In the main building, this year’s exhibitions GLAS and Ålands Slöjd- och Konsthantverks’s exhibition Livet på Kobben are shown throughout the weekend. In the old stable, Olle Törnqvist’s sculpture The Knight’s Horse can be viewed and in the main building visitors can also take part in a small exhibition about the history of the house.
The museum shop sells Åland handicrafts and souvenirs. The shop is cashless and we therefore only accept card payments. For the youngest visitors there is a playful post office where the Post- och Tullhus mascot Ecke lives.
On Saturday and Sunday 23.9-24.9 we offer a children’s activity between 12-17: “Recycling with glass”. Here children can use their imagination to transform old discarded glass objects into something new.
Saija Saarela will be there from Friday 22 September to Sunday 24 September to demonstrate her craft and sell her leather products.
ABOUT THE HOUSE
The Eckerö Post- och Tullhus was completed in 1828 and served as the official residence and workplace for customs administrators and postmasters for almost 100 years. Since 1994, the Post- och Tullhus has belonged to the Province of Åland and is managed by the Government of Åland. The facility was declared a listed building in 2018.
