The research at Husö today focuses mostly on our coastal waters. There are also studies concerning the lakes on Åland. The main research themes today are eutrophication, foreign/invasive species and the effects of climate change on the aquatic environment.
This year Husö Biologiska Station have a pop up station in the maritime quarter.
ABOUT HUSÖ BIOLOGICAL STATION
Husö Biological Station is Åbo Akademi University’s research station, located on Bergö in Finström. At the station we mainly conduct aquatic research that is strongly linked to the archipelago, coastal waters and lakes of Åland. Husö was founded in 1959.
Our research includes the following themes: structural and functional biodiversity, eutrophication, invasive species and the effects of climate change on the marine environment. The station has modern equipment for experimental aquatic ecology, laboratory analyses of water chemistry parameters and biological samples.
